Photo of the week – August 15

Osawa Pond at Daikaku Ji Temple in northwestern Kyoto is one of the many beautiful temples in the former capital city of Japan. The temple itself dates back to around 876 A.D. The attached Osawa Pond was built with human hands instead of Mother Nature’s. The pond is located to the south of the temple and had water systems set up to have water flow from the temple into the pond.

I captured this photo just as the sakura were starting to bloom. Unfortunately, a few trees had not quite yet blossomed to their full extent, so the scenery is a tad bit sparse.
